Do you buy a bag of ice every time you pack your cooler for a trip or a picnic? Well, I’m going to suggest a dirt-cheap alternative.
Instead of paying $2 for a bag of ice, fill a few empty plastic water or soda bottles about 3/4 of the way with tap water and stick them in your freezer.
Allow the water to freeze solid, then remove the bottles and lay them in the bottom of your cooler. Place your food or drink items on top of the layer of frozen water bottles and everything will stay nice and cold until you arrive at your destination!
